Profile

After a decade of running their own ready-to-wear label and sourcing elegant fabrics for the likes of Oscar de la Renta, Escada, and Vera Wang, the husband-and-wife team of Sachin and Babi Ahluwalia turned their talents to the home by opening the lush furniture store Ankasa in 2005. Antique mirrored dressers and tables hold knick-knacks from all over the world, such as braided hyacinth orbs, beetles sculpted out of metal, and sea shell-encrusted picture frames. Plush beds are draped with cashmere throws and best-selling silk comforters in creamy colors have delicsate smocking and ruching details. Pillows with intricate embroidery and beading are strewn throughout the two-tiered store. Any Ankasa product made of fabric, such as the padded headboards, can be customized to coordinate with your existing home decor. And Ankasa’s Interior Design Service offers free consultation and room design with a minimum purchase.
