NYU grad Kate Goldwater opened this offbeat boutique for recycled and socially conscious style in 2007. Although primarily a curated thrift-and-vintage spot, Goldwater's namesake line, AuH2O (“gold water” in chemical symbols), uses slips, vintage dresses, T-shirts, tanks, and spare fabric scraps to make reconstructed halters, strapless dresses, tube tops, and skirts. The shop is tiny but eye-catching, with a neon orange storefront that attracts curious browsers from the similarly minuscule coffee bar, Abraço, next door.
