AvaMaria may be minimally furnished, but this understated Soho boutique is brimming with deals. Owner Katherine Virketiene fills her stock with brand new, never-worn pieces from last season's runways and offers them at discounted prices, so shoppers can scoop up a Diane von Furstenberg patterned wrap dress or a Stella McCartney romper for under $300. Named after Virketiene's newborn daughter and grandmother, AvaMaria, with its constantly changing roster of designers, is a nod not only to designers of seasons past, but to up-and-coming talent as well. Silk dresses from Chulette and hand-woven shorts from the Hemma collection—two New York-based labels—hang from the racks right alongside those from Vanessa Bruno and Yigal. Though the selection is small, shoppers may want to check back often, as new pieces are added weekly. On an opposite wall, shoes are arranged according to color, from black to green to pink to red. Strappy Manolo Blahnik and Jimmy Choo sandals go for $380, while you might stumble upon a pair of Marc by Marc Jacobs flats for $88. AvaMaria also houses an impressive collection of jewelry. Embellished bib necklaces hang from a quartet of jewelry cases (stud earrings are on display inside) that rest on the pale walls; more subtle offerings, like gold and silver chains with charms (including an owl made from vintage Swarovski crystals) lay in a nearby case. In addition to womenswear, shoes, and jewelry, AvaMaria delivers a small assortment of sundry items, like silk-screened ties and clutches.
