Ask any Italian design lover where to buy furniture and B&B Italia will near the top of the list. The Milan-based company boast two outposts in New York: one on 58th Street; the second on Greene (just down the block from Moss). The collection draws upon design talent worldwide with pillows by Dutch innovator Marcel Wanders and a sculptural white acrylic-resin bookshelf by Japan’s Naoto Fukasawa. Prices are as steep as the aesthetic is sleek; sofas here run about $12,000. Traditionalists may sniff but anyone straddling the fence could quickly convert to the contemporary, especially after slipping onto a comfy modular sofa from Tufty Time. — Caroline Callahan
