Mom Jennifer Cattaui created Babesta to give hipster parents an alternative to the cutesy, anodyne designs typical of baby and toddler clothing. This West Broadway space is crammed with clothes, toys, crib décor, and media with an edge. Parents can inspire rock-n-roll ‘tude with Harajuku Lovers printed onesies or Rockabye Baby! CDs, which transform rock songs by popular bands like U2 and Coldplay into instrumental lullabies. Organic linens and crib sets by Pixel Organics ensure that the future generation commits to environmentally-friendly practices from day one. Babesta is at its best when it comes to printed knits: For around $20 to $40, Parents can cultivate their children’s tastes, be they political (a Chairman Mao or JFK onsie), musical (Jimi Hendrix and Rolling Stones hoodies), or intellectual (Dostoyevkey or Chomsky t-shirts). Awsome! The main word that i shouted as a walked through this hip boutique last week. On every rack, on every Ugly Doll was a urban, rock n' roll, hip piece of wardrobe any mom would want there child in. I am a mom of a 20 mth old boy, and did i find the coolest thing for my rockstar. From designers from our local Brooklyn borough to designers from Japan, there was something for everyone for every age. But then I asked about furniture, and to my surprise... THEY HAD THAT TOO! If your not in town log on to their website, im sure you'll have fun!
