Profile
This old-school liquor store near Grand Central isn’t large, but the owners have figured out a way to cram more than 4,000 bottles of booze into the space. Beekman Liquors, which opened in its current location in 1965 and remains a family-owned business, specializes in whisky, port, sake, and champagne. The good stuff: single malt scotch, bourbon, Irish whiskey, and rum, is displayed on shelves behind the cash register. Staff here isn’t pretentious, but they can teach you how to distinguish, say, a King Fish Cabernet ($5.99) from a red Burgundy La Tache ($3500). The store also offers delivery throughout New York City and out of state.
Free Wine and Spirit TastingsThe store offers spirit tastings on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 4-7pm and wine tastings on Thursdays and Fridays from 4-7pm.
