Talk about serendipity: This wine and liquor store opened in 2000, just as Dumbo real estate was taking off. Photos of the neighborhood’s angular bridge views decorate the room; the rest of the wall space belongs to wooden shelves with green and yellow dots denoting organic or biodynamic selections. Encouraged by increased interest, owner Josh Cohen has given a higher profile to the store’s eco-oeno streak. But he also makes an effort to offer older vintages that are ready to drink, some of them purchased at auction. Mouthwatering bottles have included Ridge Bordeaux blends from the early 1990s and a trove of Sine Qua Non Syrah. (You might consider signing up for his rare-wine e-mail bulletin.) Tastings are held every Wednesday night, and sometimes on weekends as well, but on any given night staff might casually open a bottle to share with customers.
DeliveryFree with no minimum purchase within Dumbo and Brooklyn Heights. Delivery elsewhere in Brooklyn and in Manhattan is also free for orders over $200.
