Block Headwear opened its doors in April 2010, though you could find its wares at places like Saks for years before that. Inside there are caps of all styles and sizes— knit beanies, newsboys (here called “Ivy” hats), straw fedoras for summer, and faux-fur trilbys for winter, along with an assortment of men’s accessories. And though the hats are marketed for men, woman have been known to sport them, too. In the front of the shop, an old hat making machine gives a clue into how hats used to be made, and that, along with the brick walls, the old wooden wagon table, and the artistically-worn doors used to display hats give the store an aged and inviting feel.
