Owners Jeff and Triciann Botta opened this Red Hook wine shop in May 2010, specializing in rare varieties from Italy. The name—also a spin on the couple’s surname--translates to “impact of wine” in Italian. The bright, modern space, outfitted with two gas fireplaces and plush armchairs, feels more like a comfortable living room than a shop, partly the result of early interest by the Discovery Channel show “Construction Intervention,” which built and filmed the space over the course of four days. The cellar space in back is used to highlight wines outside of Italy, often chosen seasonally.
