Profile
Since establishing vintage and home goods shop BrowNY International in April of 2011, Julie Erinc has quickly become the proprietor of a mini-empire of stores in the neighborhood. 51 Boutique, which gets its name from the shop’s address, is her fourth to open in under a year, and it showcases vintage pieces along with the wares of independent designers from both New York and Turkey. The hand-dyed fabrics and beaded belts are appealing, as are one-of-a-kind items like an ankle-length open cardigan with fringed sleeves. But the strongest selling point by far is the jewelry. From chunky rings to amethyst accents to delicate chains with big, polished stones, there are tons of eye-catching pieces, including a display of gold necklaces woven through with colorful yarns made by the manager’s daughter. The selection of skull tees, slip dresses, and silk camis are the kind of goods shoppers can find filling just about every other Noho shop, but items like a double-finger turquoise ring are far more unique. The only danger: If you try it on, you may not take it off.
