We’ve all heard it before; a distressingly large number of women are wearing the wrong bra size, leaving them open to potential back pain, poor posture, and the dreaded VPL in the underarm and upper-back area. But for customers of Bra*Tenders, those days are long gone. Blessed with an inexplicable gift for determining a woman’s cup and band size by eye, co-owner Lori Kaplan has been fitting men, women, and even entire Broadway casts since 1980, along the way helping such household names as Kim Cattrall, Lucy Liu, and Denzel Washington. She also fits entire bridal parties (per recommendation of Saks Fifth Avenue). Free of tape measures and size charts, the store’s every inch of wall space is jam-packed with basics, bridal bustiers, hosiery and various underthings—allowing Kaplan and her team of specialists to outfit each person in the best fit, size, and style for his or her body. Each personalized hour-long fitting is by appointment only, and a wide price range allows customers to find their perfect undergarment without breaking the bank. — Catie Keck
