Brian Atwood on Madison Avenue is the shoe designer’s first flagship store, a lavish, 1,500-square-foot boutique that’s like a love letter to the high heel. An arched entryway made of marble leads shoppers to three salon rooms featuring shoes presented in upholstered cylindrical displays against the walls. About 100 different styles are sold at any given time—including variations of Atwood’s most famous staples: Maniac (closed-toe platform heel), Wagner (peep-toe platform), and Starlet (classic closed-toe pump). Other editions show off other Atwood favorite features: sky-high heels, bright colors, animal skin, and velvet. Customers can also shop the B Brian Atwood contemporary line, a less expensive alternative, in the third salon. Beyond shoes, the store also sells a few handbags (an in-store exclusive), starting at $1,100.
