A cooperative that represents over 50 local artisans, this cozy Cobble Hill gallery is owned and managed by artists Ronnee Peters, Matthew Yanchuk, and Judy Bieber, all of whom display their own art and work one day per week in the shop. The narrow, sunlit showroom is ideal for Peters’s medium of choice: stained glass panels that line the windows, casting refracted rainbows across shelves of delicately glazed pottery (the specialty of both Bieber and Yanchuk). All three of the owners and a number of the member artists will work to order; commissioned items like clay dinnerware sets and three-panel stained-glass fireplace screens can run thousands of dollars, but the items here are generally modestly priced considering the amount of labor that goes into them. The Artisans Gallery is popular among gift-givers of all stripes, especially wedding shoppers, thanks to unique home gifts like blown-glass stemware and inlaid salad bowls with wavy-tined tongs. The shop even has its own bridal registry for couples looking for something outside of department-store convention. A special Judaica section toward the back of the store showcases stained-glass menorahs and Seder plates emblazoned with Hebrew characters.
