Located just around the corner from the Brooklyn College campus, Bulletproof Comics claims to be the largest comic book and game store in Brooklyn—not in square feet, judging by the narrow aisles of this cramped space, but in its substantial collection of comic-filled cardboard boxes filling the shelves. Racks of action figures and figurines cover the walls, and glass cases beneath and behind the register display more valuable figurines like rare and unopened Punishers and vintage Supermans, used and new video games, gaming systems, and accessories. Visitors will find some imported games unavailable at chain stores but no computer games. The even-smaller back room holds a trove of sci-fi, horror, kung fu, and anime DVDs, along with more glass cases containing video games for older systems such as the Sega Dreamcast, Genesis, and Super Nintendo. Those who want to test their skills can come by for one of the store's weekly video game tournaments, where the entry fees make up the kitty for the winners. — Andrew Cleary
