Profile
The C. Wonder brand is the psychedelic-preppy brainchild of Chris Burch (ex-husband of Tory). Its second flagship store occupies a large space on the second floor of the Time Warner center. Colorful rooms decked in ornate crown molding are filled to the brim with all things shiny, soft, and monogrammed—all token wardrobe elements of the monied Palm Beach set—but without their price tags. Amid large zebra with multicolored stripes and enormous inflatable animals are additional lifestyle items such as headphones, waffle irons, yo-yos, bikes, and roller skates—one gets the impression that the wealth of offbeat curios in this wonderland might exceed the needs of the average customer. Just the same, it's hard to find an item over a hundred bucks, and even the outerwear doesn't crack 200. Thanks to a giant monogram machine in the back of the store, virtually any item can be monogrammed in-house, and the enormous dressing rooms, like the Soho outpost, have touch screens to change the lights and select music. It’s an option if you're after a certain old-money look at modest prices or need monogrammed gifts for that personal touch.
