This bright and airy corner boutique is simple in design but its colorful stacks of crisp linen sheets, Moroccan-print pillows, satin comforters, pastel cashmere blankets, and mimosa-scented candles create a distinct sense of place. Launched in Soho in the spring of 2005, Calypso Home is the latest creation of Christiane Celle, founder of the revered Calypso clothing boutiques, which she conceived of and first opened on the island of St. Barths in 1992. Like Celle's garment line, Calypso Home focuses on natural textiles from around the world. In addition to its own brand of throws and blankets, the store features hand-embroidered Suzani quilts and an assortment of designer bedding and towels by John Robshaw, Maison de Vacances, and Matteo. An eclectic range of high-end home accessories decorate the store along with a limited but expanding custom-made furniture selection. — Sarah Walker
