Camilla Arés decided to open this small ecofriendly boutique in 2007 after finding that the organic clothing and housewares she bought online were rarely available together in any retail store. Now she sells a mix of apparel, home goods, and children’s clothing to Boerum Hill locals. Bibs and baby Speesees pajamas take up a large portion of the back section, and casual men’s hoodies, polos, and dresses hang along the walls on recycled paper hangers. Also on hand are stainless-steel jewelry from Prismera, organic bedding, body lotions, and even artsy tableware like a drink-serving tray covered with factory-surplus felt. Arés tries to make sure the companies she buys from are not only ecofriendly, but also employ fair labor practices—which is why she often finds herself buying from small brands like lingerie purveyor Perfectly Imperfect and local designers such as Loyale.
