City dwellers longing for a breath of country air can get their fix at this charming nook of a shop where an eclectic assortment of treasures—displayed in a sunny, whitewashed room decorated with framed lace doilies—quietly champions the simple life. Everything a would-be pastoralist needs to outfit her country cottage is here: aqua-green Fiestaware cups and saucers, tablecloths and aprons from the forties and fifties, quilted Utility Canvas bags (perfect for stowing knitting projects or a picnic lunch), and handmade wooden cutting boards. There’s clothing for women and kids, too—a mix of basics (Loomstate jeans, C&C California tees in Easter-egg colors), floaty blouses from small-run designers like Stacey Lapidus, and calico smock and wrap dresses created by owner Holly Waterfield. Those serious about making an exit to the exurbs can also shop for their dream farmhouse here: Waterfield shares her space with Randy Florke, a realtor (and interior designer) specializing in Sullivan County retreats.
