Trendy frocks and unique accessories crafted by local, independent designers are the focus of this diminutive Astoria boutique. Bubble-gum pink walls serve as a playful backdrop to shelves of vintage-inspired graphic tees and racks of brightly colored cropped leggings in teal and maroon, as well as an assortment of crocheted pieces and cheeky shift dresses. The store's main attraction, however, is its generous collection of hats, handbags, and jewelry. Standouts include dark fedoras by Heather Huey (who designs hats for Project Runway winner Christian Siriano's line), sturdy handbags in leather and ostrich by Luccia O, wallets crafted from recycled newspapers and fabrics by Stacey Rink, hand-etched copper earrings by Ayse Richardson, and headscarves made from vintage silk scarves (made-to-order requests utilizing any swath of fabric are also accepted). — Amy Wilkinson

I visited my friend in Astoria this past weekend and walked around to all the local shops . One of my favorite shops was Candy Plum. It is filled with beautifully made accessories and colorful hats and clothing. I spent around thirty minutes in a shop the size of shoe box and enjoyed every minute. What a surprise to find a shop like this in Astoria. love love love
