The convertible sofa has a bad reputation: uncomfortable mattresses, weak frames, and style akin to a loveseat at the Holiday Inn. So Carlyle Custom Convertibles’ method is simple: Provide high-quality materials and let the customers design a better one themselves. Arm yourself with a tape measure and a catalog, and get to work tweaking models for anything from size, material, or arm and back style. (You can also bring in your own fabric and Carlyle will wrap it around one of their solid wood frames.) Sofa-beds come in sizes as large as super-queen, but the same process can be used to customize an ottoman bed, a chair bed, or a sectional that can unfold into countless single (and reversible) mattresses.
