Cashmere is this small, bright shop's raison d'etre. Twin sets, sweaters, gloves, hats, and shawls—all grouped by color—create a rainbow in the sparely decorated boutique, with hues ranging from the intense—watermelon, turquoise, and a supersaturated sherbet—to the demurely neutral. Coordinated eveningwear dresses up the fabric, putting tiered chiffon evening skirts with matching chiffon-trimmed cashmere sweaters and iridescent taffeta bubble dresses with cashmere stoles, while a more casual selection of clothes complements the store's namesake merchandise, both in texture and appearance: silk skirts, devore velvet blouses and scarves, jeans, and tweed jackets and coats. Most styles tend towards the conservative, but the contemporary designs of owners Margaret and Peter Dictenberg's femme-bohemian line Margaret Loves Peter spice things up. — Kathryn Williams
