The block-long department store sets the standard for kitchen tools and gizmos, high-end and low. The Macy’s tent is big enough for both premium equipment (Calphalon professional nonstick cookware) and the commonplace alternatives. Store-brand pots and pans (called Tools of the Trade) are well made and almost always on sale. A good selection of small appliances, too. At the semi-annual sales, prices are unbeatable.
