Center 44’s massive, block-long showroom holds one-of-a kind vintage furniture, original art, and antiques from over seventy international dealers. The well-preserved finds include antiques dating back to ancient periods and emphasis on furniture designs reflecting Deco, Modernism, and Futurism styles. While Center 44 caters mainly to the design trade, discriminating retail customers will feel right at home spending an afternoon searching for popular Harvey Probber furnishings or chairs by design guru Frits Henningsen (though wide-ranging, the prices certainly aren’t for the faint of heart). But owners Paul Plumadore and Jim Tindell, former antique dealers and directors of the now defunct Lafayette Antiques, say that buying at Center 44 is like getting a Rolls-Royce at Toyota prices.
