Like the clients who step lightly in their wares, this shop cares as much about artisanship as it does about fashion. Since 1948, the Paciottis have been handcrafting men's shoes in Italy; when scion Cesare took over in 1980, he modernized the Milan-based brand by adding a line of women's footwear that keeps pace with the latest runway trends. Today, Paciotti has a shoe salon in every fashion capital, from Abu Dhabi to L.A. Modern, athletic-style shoes and sleek boots for men tango with dominatrix boots, sandals in exotic skins, lace-up ladies heels and supple leather loafers along the white walls of their minimalist Manhattan outpost. Although best known for sexy styles, the brand's Paciotti 4 US collection includes more casual shoes, such as metallic sneakers. A line of buttery wallets, boldly-styled belts, and high-wattage leather handbags are more recent additions.
