To merely enter is to discover your primordial need for a 50” plasma screen high-definition television with surround sound—no, make that an entire studio apartment-size home theater. Offering the latest audio-visual equipment, Circuit City can set you up with all that and more, including stereos, speakers, turntables, voice recorders, satellite radios, gaming systems, and MP3 players. Digital still and video cameras, from Apple to Samsung, are available, along with the desktop and laptop computers to download and send images galore—and a wealth of computer accessories from majors like Toshiba, Compaq, Sony and Hewlett Packard. For the less-hardcore techie, there are cordless phones, Roomba vacuums, DVDs and CDs. Circuit City offers home delivery and home-theater installation, and all stores also have on-site Verizon Wireless retailers. — Andrew Sessa

Circuit City's PC support team, firedog, offers technical assistance, but since no New York stores have on-location service departments, any gadgets requiring work will have to be sent out-of-town.

The store has weekly sales, which it announces with ads in print publication and on its website. Holidays also bring special promotions.
