Profile
Everything you want to know about travel can be found at this quaint store, which specializes in rare and antique books about voyages far and wide. Opened in the ‘80s by travel writers Harriet and Arnold Greenberg, the well-equipped two-room shop stocks everything from history and geography tomes about the French Alps to chronicles of Abraham Lincoln’s trips. Fans love to browse the well-priced vintage maps, the stellar section of rare books on New York City, and one of the country’s largest selections of out-of-print Baedeker travel guides and illustrated A&C Black Twenty Shilling volumes. (For those not suffering from wanderlust, there are also some first editions of general fiction, literature and children’s books.) Titles here are categorized by region, then broken down into subcategories like poetry, memoir, fiction or potpourri, to make browsing—and inspiration—easy. With real dust on some of the dust jackets adding to the authenticity, The Complete Traveller offers up plenty to indulge the inner Accidental Tourist.
