Established in France in 1995, this international mother-daughter brand brings voluminous peacoats, silk tunics, and pleated jumpers to New York, in its first stateside store. The company attempts to appeal to both chic mothers and their fashion-forward daughters, even holding Online casting for the real-life pairs in their ad campaigns. Although the line is designed in France, the pieces are manufactured separately all over the world, in China, Bulgaria, India, Portugal, and beyond. Whitewashed wood floors, white shelving, and vases of Easter lilies give the shop a country-chic vibe, with clothing hanging in rows, and leather handbags, heels, and belts adorned with images of Leon, the brand’s bulldog logo, displayed on central tables. The small selection of girls' clothing is sweetly mature, including velvet floral skirts, denim overall jumpers, and pleated cotton dresses in sizes 2 to 10. The women’s collection shares the same racks, offering silk tunics, jacquard jumpers, cotton turtlenecks, and cardigans in shades of brown, blue, and gray, with flashes of orange. Denim is straight-legged and simply constructed, and dresses are slung low on the hips for breezy, flowing shapes. The resulting effect is a polished, versatile collection fit for the office or an afternoon playdate, depending on your age bracket.
