Don’t let the long train ride deter you—this “designer consignment store,” as it is dubbed by Italian-born owner Jolanta Critelli, is more than worth the trip. The shop features a multitude of well-known labels (Chanel, Fendi, Prada, Gucci, Citizens of Humanity, Helmut Lang, Tory Burch, and Burberry, to name just a few) all at discount prices, and carries a full stock of earrings, clutches, bracelets, dresses, and jeans. There’s also a slightly unorthodox purchasing policy: Critelli doesn’t let people buy anything unless they try it on—her chief goal is to ensure that a customer is satisfied with their purchase, and she offers everything from fashion advice to a layaway option to guarantee success. If you can’t afford something the first go-around, Consign Connection marks all store items down by 50 percent every Saturday in August.
