This dark, enigmatic shop looks as if it’s been carved from onyx and lit by three overhead lanes of soft, glowing piano keys. Designer Ennio Capasa’s apparel and shoes are just as dramatic; since 1986, his Milan-based line has been selling its ready-to-wear to street-chic men and women who embrace fashion that’s both fierce and sensual. From the men’s distressed leather motorcycle jackets and wool dress pants with raw, unfinished hems to the women’s tulip-layered silk georgette halter tops and gabardine pencil skirts, everything is tailored to second-skin, leather-glove closeness. Like the shop’s sharp, minimalist décor, most of the pieces share in a muted spectrum of charcoal, pewter and black. Along the back wall, illuminated cubbies showcase the sought-after leather footwear—perhaps the line’s most coveted items. Women will find Manolo-quality feminine pumps, boots, sling-backs and ankle-strap sandals with a sharper edge; many are made with contrasting fabrics. Men can slip into masculine-yet-fashion-conscious ankle boots, loafers and oxfords, best considered as durable, wearable investments.
