Upper East Side
Over in Rome, Italy, the fine made-to-measure shirts and tailored menswear of Davide Cenci’s flagship—opened in 1926—have helped make it a favorite of stylish Italian politicians and captains of industry. Launched in 1982, this Upper East Side outpost attracts the same well-heeled breed with four elegant floors of suits, sportswear, shoes, hosiery, coats, pajamas, underwear, and notions. Stock ranges from $135 cashmere socks to $145 pure silk monogrammed ties to $4,000 top-line coats. Though best known for its private label, the store also features designers like Malo, Schneider, St. Andrew, Zimereli and Belvest. On the top floor, daughters, girlfriends, and wives of regular Davide Cenci customers fine classic, well-made womenswear, including Artico shearling coats, cashmere sweaters and shoes from Prada-owned brand Car Shoe.
