d.b.a. stands for “doin’ business as,” and sneakers are the business of choice at this narrow, blue-tiled shop—though the neon, limited-edition pairs look more like pieces of art than footwear. Rarities like bank-breaking, limited-edition “Vegas” Pumas and bright-colored Nikes with stitched-on swatches of dog hair fill the shelves. Visitors to the showroom will also notice small windowed cubbyholes beneath their feet containing true sneaker treasures, like a signed pair of De La Soul cobranded Nike Dunks. There’s a small range of apparel, too, like S&D baseball caps, Japanese denim, and underground-designed tees. And the shelves are peppered with esoteric accessories like LeBron action figures and Caws and Be@rbrick collectibles, some autographed by their designers.
