Blocks from Central Park, De La Concha Tobaccanist carries imported pipe tobacco and a variety of house brands, but the real draw is single cigars. Some in the box, some in individual wrappers, cigars range from Davidoff from the Dominican Republic to Brazilian Dona Flor. The store plays fittingly smoky jazz while out-of-towners and uptown businessmen sit at one of a handful of high top tables along the storefront window. De La Concha is one of the rare tobacco stores that stocks more tobacco than accessories, but you can still pick up the latest copy of Cigar Aficionado or fluid for that Hell’s Angel Zippo lighter you stash in the fifth pocket of your Levi’s.
