When owners Joel Dean, Giorgio DeLuca, and Jack Ceglic opened their flagship store in an old warehouse in 1977, Soho was still a fringe neighborhood that artists were beginning to discover. How times change. The rich chocolate cakes and fruit pies are culled from top local bakeries and at most locations you can get an espresso. — David S. Hirschman

I dont usually pig out much, but visiting Dean and DeLuca has really changed my mind! When you see all those glorious chocolates, pastries and bagels, you get the instant impulse to indulge yourself in the pleasures of fine food! I can understand why this shop is so popular with New Yorkers and tourists alike, and I can safely say it was one of the best places I have ever been food shopping in my life. I would just love to throw a party and buy all the food from here. It is a great place to buy gifts for people- especially if they love sweet things and oils, etc.
