You can gawk at the diligent in-house artisans through the storefront window of this Kyoto brand’s first U.S. store, which is perhaps the Lower East Side’s tiniest watch factory. The wood-swathed interior brims with over 150 metal-faced designs ($350 to $650), which incorporate elements like minuscule copper number markers, colorful second hands, and inscriptions. Each Japanese-designed piece is made start-to-finish by a single person and carries signature flourishes dreamt up by its creator—asymmetrical leather bands, primary-colored second hands, etched starscapes. As a result, no two watches are the same, but you can also work with the staff to customize elements like face and band color and the actual hour, minute and second hands for a creation all your own.
