Easily Boerum Hill’s lushest storefront, this home-gardening shop is packed with treasures for urban green thumbs, especially the little eccentricities that can personalize a well-trimmed windowsill or patio. You’ll find wrinkly miniature gnomes to peek through the ivy or a mossy wire-framed Chihuahua to guard the begonias. These quirky accents are the findings of Charles Dorr, a lifelong gardener who has been landscaping locally since the mid-nineties and opened Dig in 2006. His impeccably organized narrow space stocks pots and planters year-round in an impressive spectrum of sizes (from fist-size to dishwasher-big) and colors (sunflower yellow to gunmetal gray). Like any good gardener, Dorr’s stock tends to the seasonal. In the early summer, you’ll find herbs galore; in the winter, it’s hearty, indoor plants as well as wreaths made of antique ornaments.
