Started in the late fifties as a family business in Manhattan, the nursery today sprawls over 12,500 square feet. Apartment gardeners will find plenty of house plants and planters; for the brownstoner: window boxes, garden furniture, and sprinkler systems; for the roof topper: shrubs, trees, and ivies galore. A smart staff full of advice helps novices choose bulbs, annuals, perennials, seeds, and–for the impatient–seedlings, along with tools, soil, mulch, and plant food.
