Considered the “Ferrari of motorcycles,” Ducati is a high-end Italian motorcycle brand that produces standard, sport, and collectible models. This spacious Soho showroom is the only Ducati outlet in Manhattan. Black square columns frame bikes in gleaming reds, oranges, yellows, blues, and blacks, and huge images of racing bikers cover the walls. The Monster, a no-frills bike that comes in black, white, or red, is a best-seller among city dwellers. The Hypermotard model also has good clearance and comfort for city riding. At the high end of the spectrum is the Desmosedici, a racing-bike replica with 200 horsepower and full carbon-fiber bodywork for flexibility. In the back of the store is Ducati-branded apparel and downstairs is a full-service department that can change parts and customize bikes. The showroom also sells retro-looking British label Triumph and KTM, an Austrian brand geared to off-roading. Oh, and there’s one bike not for sale—a $500,000 bike ridden by Italian Grand Prix road racer Loris Capirossi in the 2005 season.
