Veteran dealer Lorraine Wohl—her intitals are the shop’s name—prowls estate sales and European markets to stock her eclectic antiques lair with an incredible selection of jewelry from the twenties, thirties and forties, as well as French mirrored furniture from the 1930s. Decorated like an impossibly chic grandmother’s sitting room, Elle W is filled with sharp vintage accent furniture, like gorgeous mirrored end tables and etched mirrored consoles, with some displaying the store’s collection of retro jewelry. In the accessories department, prepare to pay top dollar for finds like a Chanel pearl choker or 14k gold Cartier watch. The store does not carry reproductions, so each Miriam Haskell bracelet or oversized Eisenberg brooch can be trusted as authentic. There’s also a small sampling of vintage couture, including some 1940s Chanel and Gallanos, with metal handbags by Judith Lieber to complete the look.
