Makeup artist turned boutique owner Ellen Koenigsberg has always had a penchant for vintage wear, so after years of scoring plum pieces for her own wardrobe, opening her self-titled shop was a natural progression. The vintage purveyor "buys what she likes" and hopes customers share her taste, meaning this isn't yet another place for designer label snobs in search of a rare Pucci or Halston piece; instead, the small store is lined mainly with uptown looks boasting Saks and Bloomingdales tags, with the occasional Marimekko dress or Oscar de la Renta-esque cocktail number thrown in, all grouped by color. Each reasonably priced item boasts an exclamatory remark that Koenigsberg scrawls on the price tag: "Great velvet top!"; "The perfect navy cardigan!"; or "I love this dress!" Gently worn leather T-straps, classic granny pumps, wedge sandals, and knee-high boots are part of the impressive footwear assortment.
