There is also a nice selection of handbags and jewelry, as well a unique collection of baby and toddler T-shirts. Retro-mod designs like the store’s tiki mug get a lot of shelf space here. A kind of groovy, funky gift shop with a social conscience, Exit 9's owners promote recycling even as they hawk their housewares, baby clothes, Moleskine notebooks, and other semi-recyclable ephemera. For hostess gifts with an edge, or a birthday present no one else will bring to the party, a detour to Exit 9 is more than worthwhile. — Polly Kreisman
