Profile
Matt Fox says he was the “weird kid” who wore a tie to high school. But with Fine and Dandy, the store he co-owns with partner Enrique Crame III—he’s found a community of like-minded, well-dressed gentlemen. Launched in 2008 as an online retailer, the pair opened their brick-and-mortar location in November 2012 in Hell’s Kitchen. The interior is a personally curated collection of old photos, antique tables, and other twentieth- and nineteenth-century mementos, creating the overall look of an old club room. The clothes, however, are new—socks, hats, and suspenders, among other accessories, are made in New York for Fine and Dandy’s own line. Fox says it’s the sought-after stuff of a growing population of dapper New Yorkers looking for a special finishing detail to a sharp ensemble. But the store is not just for modern-day dandies shopping for spats, guys seeking a tie for a formal occasion, or—for whatever reason—a silver tape measure, all here among the store’s colorful mix of odds and ends amid a solid selection of clothing.
