Chicago-based FLOR set up shop in Boerum Hill in 2011, offering a full selection of their eco-friendly, design-driven and easily movable solutions for floor-covering. Instead of conventional rolled carpeting, customers can opt for FLOR’s modular carpet tiles available in a variety of styles and prints. Options range from cowhide to psychedelic, large-scale paisley. At the Boerum Hill location, top-selling styles include “House Pet” (hardwearing, synthetic mohair in hues such as black cat and canary) and the super-soft “Rake Me Over.” Made from renewable and recycled materials, the durable squares can fashion a rug, runner or complete wall-to-wall covering—they don’t require nails or glue and can easily be rearranged; grains can also contrast (similar to parquet floors) or be flush.
