Profile

With whitewashed walls and cluttered tables of knickknacks, this vintage housewares shop has a vibe that’s more Cape Cod than Cobble Hill. All profits are donated to charities, including the Council on the Environment of New York City (the group behind all of the city’s Greenmarkets) and the Rooftop Films organization. The stock is a nice mix of high-end and affordable finds, making it possible to pop in for an inexpensive housewarming gift (recently spotted: a retro pair of Pennsylvania-map drinking glasses for $10 each) or investment antiques, like brocade chairs, heavy brass-edged mirrors, or early-model electric lamps. There’s a wide variety of teacups, candlesticks, and stemware, as well as a small selection of new letterpress stationery. A back alcove is packed with children’s books and educational games, but it may be best to shop for kids without bringing them along: Space is scarce and low shelves are filled with breakable objects.
