This vintage clothing and accessories store is designed to look like a teenager’s bedroom from the seventies, complete with a twin bed, olive green walls, and a record player stocked with Beatles and Bob Dylan albums. Franny and Roey is a play on the owners’ names, Ilyane Roey and Frances Pezik, as well as a nod to J.D. Salinger’s popular 1961 book, Franny and Zooey. Retro-inspired women’s clothing, hats, shoes, and jewelry fill two wardrobes and a dresser, stocked with upscale brands like Manolo Blahnik, Ferragamo, Versace, and Oscar de la Renta. The store offers free alterations on everything, including items from Roey’s own line of vintage-inspired women’s clothing, Doll & Dame. Tall shelves in back are packed with records ranging from Elvis to Mozart, classic reads (Treasure Island, A Christmas Carol), and back issues of 1970s-era magazines. The rest of the space is devoted to a hodgepodge of handbags, luggage, tchotchkes, and other surprising finds, like a vintage men’s shaving kit.
