Profile

This tiny shop on the Brooklyn waterfront is only open Thursday and Friday nights and weekends, because owner Peter Miller has a full-time day-job in publishing. A former customer, he loved the place so much he bought it when it went up for sale in 2007. The store has a well-edited stock of mostly used books, focusing on New York history and culture. Ugly Duckling Press, Archipelago, and other local publishing houses are prominently featured, and local authors regularly give readings and hold Q&As. There are a couple of chairs where you can sit and read or use the free WiFi while sipping the free coffee. A yard out back hosts concerts and readings in the summertime.
