With decorations of hay bales and horse harnesses, Frye’s flagship store is no doubt meant to evoke the Western attitude that inspired their signature boots. Of course, this being Soho, it’s a very glossy version of country: the bales are artfully arranged (and beautifully-scented), and the shop’s rustic-looking goods rest casually atop vintage dark-wood cabinets. Frye may have made its name with its cowboy boots, but shoppers will find that the brand’s high-quality, gorgeous leather comes in all forms, and for both sexes—there are flats, moccasins, dress shoes, and even sneakers.
