Fashion-forward platforms might not be the focus at this Upper East Side institution, but shoppers can count on classic silhouettes and quality construction at Galo, in business since 1967. There are pairs from Italian brand Pas de Rouge (one-inch-heeled oxfords), while Spanish brand Ramon Tenza for Zalo supplies patterned slipper loafers. Galo’s own line includes ballet flats, oxfords, loafers, and pumps, all hand-stitched rather than cemented for a flexible and lightweight wear. Meanwhile, the growing weatherproof line protects socks from summer storms with pumps, loafers, and ballet flats all soled with traction-resistant rubber or made out of breathable microfibers or weatherproofed cotton. Shoppers can also grab hats, umbrellas, and raincoats from select designers.
