Profile

The world’s largest video game retailer, this chain has a floor-to-ceiling spread of games and accessories. Though most of the titles are for the Xbox and other consoles, a handful of PC games are available also. As at other retailers, the hottest new releases can be pricey, but there are plenty of wire bins full of used items for under ten bucks. Among the other regular deals are ten-percent discounts with two traded-in games and discounted strategy guides with the purchase of the accompanying game. All used games are guaranteed to work, and GameStop also sells the new and refurbished platforms on which to play them. Prices vary based on condition, but it’s not unusual to see a used Wii or PS3 for almost half the original price. Thrifty customers looking for a throwback can score bargains on older systems, like GameCubes and original Xboxes. Gaming stations allow shoppers to sample games for newer consoles like Xbox 360 and PS3, and wall-to-wall overhead racks hold accessories like gun-shaped Wii controllers and steering wheel attachments.
