This store’s namesake was an old-time hockey player whose company started off as an equipment outfitter at the old Madison Square Garden on 50th and Eighth. Now, his family business primarily pushes licensed merchandise and hockey equipment. Since moving from inside the relocated Garden in 2008, the store's been located around the corner from the arena, where merchandise is displayed around the store's perimeter: fitted caps for every major-league, framed and matted autographed photos of local icons like Mark Messier, and plenty of Knicks and Rangers items. But even more appealing are the customized player jerseys. If a certain player isn’t in stock, a name and number can be pressed or stitched onto any jersey (from infant to XXXL) with a two-week turnaround. They know what they’re doing, too: These guys used to do the lettering on the Rangers’ game jerseys.
