Profile

This venue is closed.

When Erik Courson and Dani Linnetz came across a decades-old Brownie camera and reel-to-reel projector with film, they decided to test them out on the sea-foam-hued wall of their two-room vintage shop. The film turned out to be seventies porn, and the two were eminently pleased: It was exactly the sort of oddball kitsch they had in mind when they opened Go Fish! on a quiet Carroll Gardens street in April 2007. Erik, a Dallas native and indie record exec, and Dani, a musician turned jewelry designer, peruse estate sales and flea markets for mostly mid-century goods such as Eames-era dressers, classic-rock records, eighties polyester garb, and vintage buttons and fabrics. Few items have a designer label, and only a handful, like the delicate semiprecious jewelry by Dani or Dog & Pony Show’s sweetly ironic line of greeting cards, are new. But sifting through the tightly packed, modestly priced merchandise is likely to lead to the kind of surprising discoveries the owners love.
